Real Wedding Wednesday: Piper & Lucas

Happy hump day belles! We are so excited for y’all to see these sweet pictures of Piper and Lucas. The two tied the knot over a year ago but we are still so in love with all of the precious moments that Erin Rene Photography captured.

Piper tells us a bit about her big day:

Wedding date:  April 13, 2013

Location: Statesboro, Georgia

Statesboro, Georgia is where I lived until I was 10 years old and I moved back to Statesboro to attend Georgia Southern University in 2000.  Most of my mother’s family lives in the area and Statesboro always felt like home.  The church in which we were married, Statesboro United Methodist Church, is the church I attended as a young girl.  It is a beautiful church, with gothic architecture, and I always wanted to get married in it.

The reception was held about 12 miles from Statesboro in Portal, Georgia on the bride’s grandparents’ farm.  A farm shelter and tent were used to cover the reception area but the weather was absolutely perfect for the entire evening. Ranco Tent Rentals provided the tent, tables, chairs and band stage.  JLK Lighting provided the lighting including lighted spheres over the dance floor and mason jar chandeliers over the bar.  Twinkle lights covered a pergola and lanterns and candles provided light around the reception area.

The Wedding Dress:

The Gown: purchased at Bridal’s by Jodi in Charleston, South Carolina

DesignerMori Lee

Personal Anecdotes:  The dress was an ivory, ruffle halter ballgown with pockets and it was the second dress I tried on. I wore cobalt heels by Glint purchased during a birthday trip to Vegas. They matched the bridesmaid’s dresses perfectly and served as my something blue! The garter I wore was made by a great-great aunt and every bride in my family has worn the garter since my mother in 1979.

How you and your spouse met:

We met through mutual friends over Labor Day Weekend 2010 in Beaufort, SC.

Wedding Style:

Wedding Colors: Cobalt blue/green/ivory

What inspired your wedding style? Cobalt blue is one of my favorite colors and the hydrangea is my favorite flower.  I wanted our wedding to be easy and relaxed for everyone, including the vendors. In order to accomplish this, out guests were met at the reception site with a signature cocktail of strawberry champagne punch served in mason jars with blue and white striped straws. Bevrick’s  Char House Grill of Metter catered the reception with food stations, passed Hors d’oeuvers, and late night snacks.  Food stations included our favorites of shrimp and grits, nacho and taco bar, and a carving station with fresh vegetables. Cheeseburger sliders and sausage wrapped with a pancake were served as a late night snack.  A hit at the reception was the sugar bacon as a passed hors d’oeuver.  Months later guests are still talking about the bacon! After eating, drinking, and dancing, we left the reception under an arch of sparklers held by our guests.

How you planned your wedding:

My mother and I planned the day mostly over the phone and times when she visited me.  We hired Posh Petals and Pearls to help us tie everything together. Hiring a wedding planner, who knows the area and could locate the vendors we needed, was the best thing that we did.  We met with Ashley (Posh Petals and Pearls) who gave us ideas of how things should go and checked over our plans and schedule several times to make sure we had it right.

We followed a southern tradition/superstition of burying a bottle of bourbon upside down at the reception sight exactly one month before the wedding to insure no rain on our wedding day.  It must have worked because the weather was perfect for our wedding and outdoor reception.
